Reverend Derrick Barksdale

Reverend Derrick Barksdale grew up in Ora, SC, and attended the Public Schools of Laurens District 55.  He was raised by his mother Sarah Barksdale, and is married to Wakita Barksdale.  They have two children DJ and Patience.  

     Rev. Barksdale is educated on several fronts, he has his: Bachelor of Arts Degree in Design and Masters in Business Administration from Winthrop University, an Engineering Graphics Diploma from York Technical College.  He recently achieved his Masters in Christian Leadership in the spring of 2012 at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary and is a current sitting Doctoral student, studying  (Redemptive Leadership & Organizational Development in the Multi-Ethnic Context).

     Rev. Barksdale has worked in the Banking and Information Technology Industry since entering graduate school in 2000, and is currently a Senior Vice President, Sr. Information Security Engineer for Bank of America headquartered in Charlotte, NC.  He received the prestigious Spirit Medallion of Leadership for the Bank of America Corporation in 2008.

     Rev. Barksdale is a published author, and also a Life Time Member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated, where he currently serves as Chaplin and chairman of their annual Male Oratorical Competition.

     Through all of his accomplishments, Rev. Barksdale says his most important achievement is that he has devoted his life to serving God and accepted his call into the ministry in 2008.  He became a licensed Minister under the Leadership of Pastor S.A. Mattison.  He served as Youth Pastor, and then transitioned to Interim Pastor until being installed as Pastor of the Duncan Creek Baptist Church in 2011.  This God given assignment has a close tie to the heart of Pastor Barksdale being his Great Grandfather Lonnie Caldwell was one of the first members of the church.
